About this program
The Subsidized Visiting Elective Program (SVEP) at Boston Medical Center provides financial assistance and support to qualifying medical students for a one-month clinical elective within any BMC department. BMC is the safety-net teaching affiliate of the Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine.
Selected students receive reimbursement up to $2,500 for travel, housing, and Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) registration fees, plus opportunities to meet with BMC faculty, residents, and fellows during the rotation.
- Eligibility:
- - Full-time third- or fourth-year MD or DO student in good standing
- - Enrolled at an LCME- or COCA-accredited medical school
- - Applications submitted through VSLO
International medical students from non-LCME/COCA schools are NOT eligible for SVEP — those students apply via the separate Boston University International Student Elective Program (ISEP), $3,000/elective per P102 research.
