About this program
The University of Michigan Medical School Visiting MD Students Program (Michigan Medicine, Ann Arbor, MI) hosts US LCME-accredited 4th-year medical students for clinical electives at the Michigan Medicine academic medical center. Eligibility requirements: US LCME accreditation, M4 standing, completion of 48 weeks of required rotations at the home school. Applications are accepted EXCLUSIVELY through the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities (VSLO) Domestic Network — out-of-VSLO applications are not accepted. Maximum visiting time is capped at 8 weeks total. Only electives in the published UMMS catalog are accepted (rotation periods are set by VSLO). Research electives are NOT permitted via this visiting student pathway (use the UMMS Postdoctoral Fellows program for research). The 45-day pre-start application deadline applies. UMMS also offers the Health Equity Visiting Clerkship as a featured sub-track within the visiting student program.
