Yale School of Medicine — Postdoctoral Research

Yale University's Office for Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) (postdocs.yale.edu) administers postdoctoral training across Yale's schools and departments including Yale School of Medicine, School of Public Health, Graduate School, and affiliated research centers (Yale Cancer Center, Yale Child Study Center, Yale Wu Tsai Institute, etc.). MD/MBBS graduates pursuing US clinical, translational, or health-services research apply DIRECTLY to faculty principal investigators in their area of interest — there is no central postdoc application portal at Yale. Once a faculty PI accepts a candidate, the department initiates the formal Postdoctoral Associate or Postdoctoral Fellow appointment and Yale's Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) coordinates J1 (research scholar) or H1B visa documentation. Yale postdoc stipends generally follow NIH NRSA scale with institutional supplements depending on department and years of experience (~$60-70k+). Typical appointments are 1-5 years (Yale aligns with NIH 5-year postdoctoral cap). NOTE: This is the postdoctoral RESEARCH track.
