About this program
The Observership Program at Boston Children's provides knowledge of best practices to improve pediatric care worldwide and promotes a collaborative environment for the exchange of ideas. Observerships are informal learning experiences and do not constitute formal training or patient contact. They are offered to health care providers across a number of departments and can range from one to 12 weeks, although most programs limit the duration to four weeks. As part of the curriculum, observers may shadow clinical activities and procedures and attend daily rounds, lectures, seminars, and other interdisciplinary conferences in the hospital.

Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for an Observership Program, applicants must be fluent in English and be one of the following: A practicing provider or clinician with a specific pediatric subspecialty background or demonstrated interest. (Examples include but are not limited to cardiac surgeons, pediatric neurologists, pediatric cardiologists, pediatric endocrinologists, neonatologists, pediatric ophthalmologists, general psychiatrists with a focus on children, dietitians, and others). OR: A current trainee enrolled in a residency or fellowship for a specific pediatric subspecialty. (Examples: Pediatric resident, pediatric neurology fellow, surgical resident with an interest in pediatrics, neonatology fellow, and others).
