About this program
Cincinnati Children's hosts non-employee international visitors institution-wide through two distinct tracks: Clinical Observers and Researchers.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must either be on staff at an abroad institution or in an accredited program during time of application and during the requested visit.
- CLINICAL OBSERVERSHIP TRACK:
- - Current attending physician, resident, or fellow abroad, OR
- - PhD or Master's degree holder employed abroad, OR
- - Enrolled in a PhD program abroad
- - Observer-only — hands-on training and diagnoses are prohibited
- - 1 week to 3 months (varies by division)
- - Visa: B-1/B-2 or Visa Waiver Program (self-obtained — Cincinnati Children's does NOT sponsor visas for observers)
- - No educational credit or certificate
- RESEARCH SCHOLAR TRACK (J-1 sponsored):
- - Two J-1 categories: Research Scholar and Short-Term Scholar
- - Earned PhD or MD, OR
- - Master's degree or enrolled in master's program in a related field, OR
- - Bachelor's degree (with additional requirements)
There is no educational credit or certificate for the clinical observership. Applicants should not expect letters of recommendation directed at US residency match.
