UTHealth Houston — Observer Program

The UTHealth Houston (McGovern Medical School) Observer Program at med.uth.edu/gme/trainee-resources/visiting-trainees/observers/ is one of FIVE visiting-trainee categories at UTHealth: Observers (this listing), Pre-Baccalaureate Trainees, Professional Trainees, Visiting Student Trainees, and Visiting Scientists. The Observer Program serves visiting colleagues and physicians (minimum 18 years old at start date) from across the United States and around the world for educational collaboration, observation, and study. Eligibility and structure: strictly observational — observers MAY NOT participate in or perform research, data collection, or any other hands-on activities. Maximum visit is 2 months in any one division/department. Fees differ by citizenship status: $100.00 USD for US citizens or US permanent residents; $775.00 USD for foreign nationals (non-US citizens AND non-US permanent residents). The Office of EVPCAO requires at least 8 weeks to review and process applications — plan accordingly for foreign-national applicants. IMPORTANT routing note: Observers, Visiting Medical Students, and Visiting Scholars are NOT processed through the GME Office — applicants must contact the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs or the Visiting Scholars Program (VSP) for additional information.
