About this program
The Dermatologic Surgery and Cosmetics track places trained international dermatologists alongside NYU Langone's surgical and cosmetic faculty for one intensive month. Observers watch high-volume Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic oncology, facial reconstruction, and cosmetic work including neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and laser procedures. The program emphasizes surgical decision-making and technique rather than hands-on practice; observers never provide direct patient care. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Participants must already hold a medical degree, have completed dermatology training equivalent to a US residency, pass TOEFL, reside outside the US, and obtain a B-1 visa or visa waiver. The application packet mirrors the General track and is due three months ahead of start date. Fees are $6,000 per month, paid 50% on approval and 50% thirty days before arrival, with full refund available for cancellations at least 30 days prior. Days include subspecialty clinic time at the Ambulatory Care Center on East 38th Street, morning didactics, grand rounds, and the Tuesday Night Conference. A certificate is issued on completion. Like the General track, this rotation does not count toward American Board of Dermatology eligibility and is not structured for IMGs preparing for US residency Match.
