About this program
The USF Health Department of Neurosurgery operates an observer program covering Tampa General Hospital and USF Health outpatient facilities, with multiple entry tracks tailored to the applicant's status. Tracks include non-physician shadowing at TGH, physician-to-physician observations, rotations for USF Health MCOM medical students, international observers with additional requirements, and outpatient-clinic observers. Each observer is tied to a single supervising provider per shadowing period, and applicants are prohibited from filing parallel applications for different providers in the same period. Non-physician applicants download a dedicated application form, complete all pages except Page 2, and email completed forms and a scanned photo ID to the Medical Education Specialist. International applicants route through a separate email address. The public page does not surface USMLE requirements, ECFMG expectations, visa sponsorship, LOR production, or fee schedules; because of the multiple branching tracks, interested applicants should specify their status in the very first email.
