About this program
The Saint Louis University Department of Otolaryngology runs a short-form observership capped at two weeks, open to learners 18 and over (and 16 to 17 with parental permission) including high school students, undergraduates, medical students, residents, and practicing physicians. The experience is hands-off by design: observers do not enter isolation-precaution patient rooms and do not receive any benefits, salary, stipend, medical insurance, transportation, accommodations, or academic credit. SLU students apply through Tina Vandever, while external applicants apply online through https://clinicalshadowing.ssmhealth.com/. International observers must postmark their applications six weeks before the preferred start date and supply application, valid visa/passport, CV, and vaccination records. SLU does not offer visa sponsorship.
