About this program
UVA Radiology runs a structured Breast Imaging International Visiting Scholars Program for physicians who already hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree and have completed a diagnostic radiology residency. Scholars are selected with the intent that they will return to practice in their home countries, and UVA screens for that in selection. Each scholar spends two months embedded in the breast imaging service, rotating alongside faculty for diagnostic readouts, procedures, and multidisciplinary case reviews. UVA runs three cohorts per year, starting in August, October, and December. Although the program is tuition-free, scholars remain responsible for housing, travel, and living costs. Applications go to program coordinator Nicole Vaughan and require desired fellowship dates, cover letter, CV, three LORs, and medical school transcript. A virtual interview rounds out the competitive selection.
