About this program

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center hosts visiting medical students across its flagship campus and three specialty hospitals: UH Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital, UH Seidman Cancer Center, and UH MacDonald Women's Hospital. The program accepts domestic medical students who have completed their core clinical training and will be in the fourth year of medical education at their LCME- or AOA-accredited medical school. Applications must be submitted through AAMC VSLO with 'University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center' as host; Case Western Reserve students register through the CWRU Registrar instead. On-service responsibilities include patient histories and physicals, procedures with supervision, didactics, and department conferences. UHCMC also runs the David Satcher Clerkship for 4-8 US-citizen students from July to October. CWRU School of Medicine does not directly accept visiting students; UHCMC, Cleveland Clinic, VA Northeast Ohio, and MetroHealth collectively handle all Cleveland-area visiting applications.
