About this program
Vanderbilt University School of Medicine offers visiting clerkships to fourth-year medical students from institutions with an executed affiliation agreement. The VSLO catalog for the 2026-2027 year opens March 9, 2026, and more than forty distinct electives are posted across anesthesiology, emergency medicine, surgery and surgical subspecialties, pediatrics, psychiatry, radiology, neurology, obstetrics-gynecology, pathology, and internal medicine subspecialties. Rotations run in seven sections from June through December, each a four-week block. Offers are released no sooner than twelve weeks before each start date on a rolling basis. Applicants must be in their fourth year, carry current BLS or ACLS certification, and have passed USMLE Step 1 or 2 or COMLEX. A $180 non-refundable VSLO processing fee applies; students from Meharry Medical College have the fee waived. Vanderbilt does not offer institutional housing.
