About this program

Stanford Medicine's Visiting Clerkship Program migrated entirely to the AAMC VSLO platform beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year. Summer-quarter applications opened February 13, 2026; later quarters open on a staggered schedule through the year. Visiting MD and DO students can apply for a single four-week rotation in a department participating in that quarter, and Stanford strictly caps visitors at one four-week block. Complete applications must include a personal statement, letters of recommendation, a CV, and an official medical-school transcript. After a rotation offer is extended, students must complete post-decision requirements including proof of health insurance, a criminal background check within two years of the rotation end date, and an N95 respirator mask fit-test within twelve months. Stanford does not guarantee housing. The Stanford Clinical Opportunity for Residency Experience (SCORE) Program runs as a parallel pathway providing additional mentorship and financial support.
