About this program
The University of Utah Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine opens its 2026-2027 Visiting Student Catalog on April 1, 2026 through the AAMC VSLO portal, with electives starting as early as June 2026. Applications may be submitted up to two months before the requested start date and official offers are issued no later than 45 days before the start when possible. Students must be in the clinical phase of training and have completed at least six of the CORE Clerkships (IM, Surgery, Peds, OB/GYN, Psychiatry, Family Medicine) before the rotation begins. Unusually, SFESOM does not require an affiliation agreement between the home school and Utah, simplifying access for students from newer or smaller institutions. Participating departments include Psychiatry, Radiology, Orthopaedics (Visiting MS4 Rotation), Emergency Medicine, and Plastic Surgery. Utah does not offer visiting-student housing.
