About this program

The University of Florida College of Medicine runs a dedicated International Visiting Student Program open to final-year medical students enrolled at non-US medical schools, distinct from its US VSLO pathway. Applicants must have completed the six core clerkships (Family Medicine, IM, OB/GYN, Peds, Psychiatry, Surgery) at their home institution before the start of the UF rotation. A USMLE Step 1 passing score or 'PASS' result is mandatory. The home institution must have an executed affiliation agreement with UF before any rotation request can be processed, and this can take months to arrange. Rotations are offered in two-week or four-week blocks at the Gainesville and Jacksonville campuses through their respective departments. UF does not provide housing. The international track is a structured credit-bearing clinical elective, not a shadowing or observation program, and emphasizes full clinical-team integration with appropriate direct patient-care involvement under faculty supervision.
